Psalms 116:4

⁵Out of my distress, I called on the LORD.^[+] The LORD^[+] answered me with freedom.

²⁰Deliver my soul from the sword, my precious life from the power of the dog.

⁴²He said to Jesus, “Lord, remember me when you come into your Kingdom.”

⁴³Jesus said to him, “Assuredly I tell you, today you will be with me in Paradise.”

⁶I spread out my hands to you. My soul thirsts for you, like a parched land. Selah. ⁷Hurry to answer me, LORD. My spirit fails. Don’t hide your face from me, so that I don’t become like those who go down into the pit. ⁸Cause me to hear your loving kindness in the morning, for I trust in you. Cause me to know the way in which I should walk, for I lift up my soul to you. ⁹Deliver me, LORD, from my enemies. I flee to you to hide me.

¹³But the tax collector, standing far away, wouldn’t even lift up his eyes to heaven, but beat his chest, saying, ‘God, be merciful to me, a sinner!’

¹⁵Call on me in the day of trouble. I will deliver you, and you will honor me.”

⁷You, LORD, when you favored me, made my mountain stand strong; but when you hid your face, I was troubled. ⁸I cried to you, LORD. I made supplication to the Lord:

⁴Look on my right, and see; for there is no one who is concerned for me. Refuge has fled from me. No one cares for my soul. ⁵I cried to you, LORD. I said, “You are my refuge, my portion in the land of the living.” ⁶Listen to my cry, for I am in desperate need. Deliver me from my persecutors, for they are too strong for me.

⁶In my distress I called on the LORD, and cried to my God. He heard my voice out of his temple. My cry before him came into his ears.

¹My God, my God, why have you forsaken me? Why are you so far from helping me, and from the words of my groaning? ²My God, I cry in the daytime, but you don’t answer; in the night season, and am not silent. ³But you are holy, you who inhabit the praises of Israel.
