Psalms 73:14

⁵You have forgotten the exhortation which reasons with you as with children, “My son, don’t take lightly the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when you are reproved by him;

¹²Blessed is the man whom you discipline, LORD,^[+] and teach out of your law,

¹⁹Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the LORD delivers him out of them all.

³so I am made to possess months of misery, wearisome nights are appointed to me. ⁴When I lie down, I say, ‘When will I arise, and the night be gone?’ I toss and turn until the dawning of the day.

²“I have only chosen you of all the families of the earth. Therefore I will punish you for all of your sins.”

⁶In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if need be, you have been grieved in various trials,

¹⁷You renew your witnesses against me, and increase your indignation on me. Changes and warfare are with me.

³Is it good to you that you should oppress, that you should despise the work of your hands, and smile on the counsel of the wicked?

¹⁸Why is my pain perpetual, and my wound incurable, which refuses to be healed? Will you indeed be to me as a deceitful brook, like waters that fail?

¹⁸that you should visit him every morning, and test him every moment?
