Psalms 44:1

³which we have heard and known, and our fathers have told us. ⁴We will not hide them from their children, telling to the generation to come the praises of the LORD, his strength, and his wondrous deeds that he has done. ⁵For he established a covenant in Jacob, and appointed a teaching in Israel, which he commanded our fathers, that they should make them known to their children; ⁶that the generation to come might know, even the children who should be born; who should arise and tell their children,

¹⁴It shall be, when your son asks you in time to come, saying, ‘What is this?’ that you shall tell him, ‘By strength of hand the LORD brought us out from Egypt, from the house of bondage. ¹⁵When Pharaoh stubbornly refused to let us go, the LORD killed all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both the firstborn of man, and the firstborn of livestock. Therefore I sacrifice to the LORD all that opens the womb, being males; but all the firstborn of my sons I redeem.’

²⁰When your son asks you in time to come, saying, “What do the testimonies, the statutes, and the ordinances, which the LORD our God has commanded you mean?”

¹³Gideon said to him, “Oh, my lord, if the LORD is with us, why then has all this happened to us? Where are all his wondrous works which our fathers told us of, saying, ‘Didn’t the LORD bring us up from Egypt?’ But now the LORD has cast us off, and delivered us into the hand of Midian.”

³Tell your children about it, and have your children tell their children, and their children, another generation.

⁵I have considered the days of old, the years of ancient times.

¹As the deer pants for the water brooks, so my soul pants after you, God.

¹⁴Therefore it is said in The Book of the Wars of the LORD, “Vaheb in Suphah, the valleys of the Arnon, ¹⁵the slope of the valleys that incline toward the dwelling of Ar, leans on the border of Moab.”

¹⁶From there they traveled to Beer; that is the well of which the LORD said to Moses, “Gather the people together, and I will give them water.”

^1[+] Give thanks to the LORD!^[+] Call on his name! Make his doings known among the peoples. ²Sing to him, sing praises to him! Tell of all his marvelous works.

¹⁹The living, the living, he shall praise you, as I do today. The father shall make known your truth to the children.
