Job 9:16

¹³Gideon said to him, “Oh, my lord, if the LORD is with us, why then has all this happened to us? Where are all his wondrous works which our fathers told us of, saying, ‘Didn’t the LORD bring us up from Egypt?’ But now the LORD has cast us off, and delivered us into the hand of Midian.”

^1[+] I love the LORD,^[+] because he listens to my voice, and my cries for mercy. ²Because he has turned his ear to me, therefore I will call on him as long as I live.

⁶In my distress I called on the LORD, and cried to my God. He heard my voice out of his temple. My cry before him came into his ears.

⁴¹While they still didn’t believe for joy, and wondered, he said to them, “Do you have anything here to eat?”

⁹Moses spoke so to the children of Israel, but they didn’t listen to Moses for anguish of spirit, and for cruel bondage.

²⁴I smiled on them when they had no confidence. They didn’t reject the light of my face.

¹⁸If I cherished sin in my heart, the Lord wouldn’t have listened. ¹⁹But most certainly, God has listened. He has heard the voice of my prayer. ²⁰Blessed be God, who has not turned away my prayer, nor his loving kindness from me.

¹⁴When she recognized Peter’s voice, she didn’t open the gate for joy, but ran in and reported that Peter was standing in front of the gate.

¹⁵They said to her, “You are crazy!” But she insisted that it was so. They said, “It is his angel.” ¹⁶But Peter continued knocking. When they had opened, they saw him and were amazed.

¹When the LORD brought back those who returned to Zion, we were like those who dream.
