1 Timothy 1:8

¹²Therefore the law indeed is holy, and the commandment holy, righteous, and good.

¹³Did then that which is good become death to me? May it never be! But sin, that it might be shown to be sin, was producing death in me through that which is good; that through the commandment sin might become exceedingly sinful.

¹⁶But if what I don’t desire, that I do, I consent to the law that it is good.

⁷The LORD’s law is perfect, restoring the soul. The LORD’s covenant is sure, making wise the simple. ⁸The LORD’s precepts are right, rejoicing the heart. The LORD’s commandment is pure, enlightening the eyes. ⁹The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring forever. The LORD’s ordinances are true, and righteous altogether. ¹⁰They are more to be desired than gold, yes, than much fine gold, sweeter also than honey and the extract of the honeycomb.

⁵Also, if anyone competes in athletics, he isn’t crowned unless he has competed by the rules.

²¹Is the law then against the promises of God? Certainly not! For if there had been a law given which could make alive, most certainly righteousness would have been of the law.

¹²⁷Therefore I love your commandments more than gold, yes, more than pure gold. ¹²⁸Therefore I consider all of your precepts to be right. I hate every false way. PE

¹³“You also came down on Mount Sinai, and spoke with them from heaven, and gave them right ordinances and true laws, good statutes and commandments,

²²For I delight in God’s law after the inward person,

⁹⁶I have seen a limit to all perfection, but your commands are boundless. MEM ⁹⁷How I love your law! It is my meditation all day. ⁹⁸Your commandments make me wiser than my enemies, for your commandments are always with me. ⁹⁹I have more understanding than all my teachers, for your testimonies are my meditation. ¹⁰⁰I understand more than the aged, because I have kept your precepts. ¹⁰¹I have kept my feet from every evil way, that I might observe your word. ¹⁰²I have not turned away from your ordinances, for you have taught me. ¹⁰³How sweet are your promises to my taste, more than honey to my mouth! ¹⁰⁴Through your precepts, I get understanding; therefore I hate every false way. NUN ¹⁰⁵Your word is a lamp to my feet, and a light for my path.

⁶Keep therefore and do them; for this is your wisdom and your understanding in the sight of the peoples who shall hear all these statutes and say, “Surely this great nation is a wise and understanding people.” ⁷For what great nation is there that has a god so near to them as the LORD our God is whenever we call on him? ⁸What great nation is there that has statutes and ordinances so righteous as all this law which I set before you today?
