Galatians 3:21

²¹I don’t reject the grace of God. For if righteousness is through the law, then Christ died for nothing!”

³¹but Israel, following after a law of righteousness, didn’t arrive at the law of righteousness.

²⁰Because by the works of the law, no flesh will be justified in his sight; for through the law comes the knowledge of sin.

²¹But now apart from the law, a righteousness of God has been revealed, being testified by the law and the prophets; ²²even the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ to all and on all those who believe. For there is no distinction,

¹⁹For I through the law died to the law, that I might live to God.

³For being ignorant of God’s righteousness, and seeking to establish their own righteousness, they didn’t subject themselves to the righteousness of God. ⁴For Christ is the fulfillment^[+] of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes.

⁵For Moses writes about the righteousness of the law, “The one who does them will live by them.”⁶But the righteousness which is of faith says this, “Don’t say in your heart, ‘Who will ascend into heaven?’that is, to bring Christ down);

³¹Do we then nullify the law through faith? May it never be! No, we establish the law.

¹⁷But if while we sought to be justified in Christ, we ourselves also were found sinners, is Christ a servant of sin? Certainly not!

⁷What shall we say then? Is the law sin? May it never be! However, I wouldn’t have known sin except through the law. For I wouldn’t have known coveting unless the law had said, “You shall not covet.”⁸But sin, finding occasion through the commandment, produced in me all kinds of coveting. For apart from the law, sin is dead. ⁹I was alive apart from the law once, but when the commandment came, sin revived and I died. ¹⁰The commandment which was for life, this I found to be for death; ¹¹for sin, finding occasion through the commandment, deceived me, and through it killed me. ¹²Therefore the law indeed is holy, and the commandment holy, righteous, and good.

¹³Did then that which is good become death to me? May it never be! But sin, that it might be shown to be sin, was producing death in me through that which is good; that through the commandment sin might become exceedingly sinful.

⁴May it never be! Yes, let God be found true, but every man a liar. As it is written, “that you might be justified in your words, and might prevail when you come into judgment.”

¹⁷“Don’t think that I came to destroy the law or the prophets. I didn’t come to destroy, but to fulfill. ¹⁸For most certainly, I tell you, until heaven and earth pass away, not even one smallest letter^[+] or one tiny pen stroke^[+] shall in any way pass away from the law, until all things are accomplished. ¹⁹Therefore, whoever shall break one of these least commandments and teach others to do so, shall be called least in the Kingdom of Heaven; but whoever shall do and teach them shall be called great in the Kingdom of Heaven. ²⁰For I tell you that unless your righteousness exceeds that of the scribes and Pharisees, there is no way you will enter into the Kingdom of Heaven.
