Nehemiah 9:13

¹God^[+] spoke all these words, saying,

¹⁶⁰All of your words are truth. Every one of your righteous ordinances endures forever. SIN AND SHIN

¹²⁷Therefore I love your commandments more than gold, yes, more than pure gold. ¹²⁸Therefore I consider all of your precepts to be right. I hate every false way. PE

¹¹and be ready for the third day; for on the third day the LORD will come down in the sight of all the people on Mount Sinai.

¹²Therefore the law indeed is holy, and the commandment holy, righteous, and good.

¹³Did then that which is good become death to me? May it never be! But sin, that it might be shown to be sin, was producing death in me through that which is good; that through the commandment sin might become exceedingly sinful. ¹⁴For we know that the law is spiritual, but I am fleshly, sold under sin.

⁷The LORD’s law is perfect, restoring the soul. The LORD’s covenant is sure, making wise the simple. ⁸The LORD’s precepts are right, rejoicing the heart. The LORD’s commandment is pure, enlightening the eyes. ⁹The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring forever. The LORD’s ordinances are true, and righteous altogether. ¹⁰They are more to be desired than gold, yes, than much fine gold, sweeter also than honey and the extract of the honeycomb. ¹¹Moreover your servant is warned by them. In keeping them there is great reward.

²²The LORD spoke these words to all your assembly on the mountain out of the middle of the fire, of the cloud, and of the thick darkness, with a great voice. He added no more. He wrote them on two stone tablets, and gave them to me. ²³When you heard the voice out of the middle of the darkness, while the mountain was burning with fire, you came near to me, even all the heads of your tribes, and your elders; ²⁴and you said, “Behold, the LORD our God has shown us his glory and his greatness, and we have heard his voice out of the middle of the fire. We have seen today that God does speak with man, and he lives. ²⁵Now therefore, why should we die? For this great fire will consume us. If we hear the LORD our God’s voice any more, then we shall die. ²⁶For who is there of all flesh who has heard the voice of the living God speaking out of the middle of the fire, as we have, and lived?

¹¹I gave them my statutes and showed them my ordinances, which if a man does, he will live in them. ¹²Moreover also I gave them my Sabbaths, to be a sign between me and them, that they might know that I am the LORD who sanctifies them.

¹³“‘“But the house of Israel rebelled against me in the wilderness. They didn’t walk in my statutes and they rejected my ordinances, which if a man keeps, he shall live in them. They greatly profaned my Sabbaths. Then I said I would pour out my wrath on them in the wilderness, to consume them.

³When you did awesome things which we didn’t look for, you came down, and the mountains quaked at your presence.

³³Did a people ever hear the voice of God speaking out of the middle of the fire, as you have heard, and live?
