Psalms 102:7

⁴You hold my eyelids open. I am so troubled that I can’t speak.

²⁸Let him sit alone and keep silence, because he has laid it on him. ²⁹Let him put his mouth in the dust, if it is so that there may be hope. ³⁰Let him give his cheek to him who strikes him. Let him be filled full of reproach.

³³He took with him Peter, James, and John, and began to be greatly troubled and distressed. ³⁴He said to them, “My soul is exceedingly sorrowful, even to death. Stay here and watch.”

³⁵He went forward a little, and fell on the ground, and prayed that if it were possible, the hour might pass away from him. ³⁶He said, “Abba,^[+] Father, all things are possible to you. Please remove this cup from me. However, not what I desire, but what you desire.”

³⁷He came and found them sleeping, and said to Peter, “Simon, are you sleeping? Couldn’t you watch one hour?

¹¹My lovers and my friends stand aloof from my plague. My kinsmen stand far away.

⁶My soul longs for the Lord more than watchmen long for the morning, more than watchmen for the morning.

⁶⁶Your life will hang in doubt before you. You will be afraid night and day, and will have no assurance of your life. ⁶⁷In the morning you will say, “I wish it were evening!” and at evening you will say, “I wish it were morning!” for the fear of your heart which you will fear, and for the sights which your eyes will see.

²My God, I cry in the daytime, but you don’t answer; in the night season, and am not silent.

¹³When I say, ‘My bed will comfort me. My couch will ease my complaint,’ ¹⁴then you scare me with dreams and terrify me through visions, ¹⁵so that my soul chooses strangling, death rather than my bones. ¹⁶I loathe my life. I don’t want to live forever. Leave me alone, for my days are but a breath.
