Mark 14:33

⁴⁴Being in agony, he prayed more earnestly. His sweat became like great drops of blood falling down on the ground.

⁷He, in the days of his flesh, having offered up prayers and petitions with strong crying and tears to him who was able to save him from death, and having been heard for his godly fear,

³⁷He allowed no one to follow him except Peter, James, and John the brother of James.

¹⁶Passing along by the sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and Andrew, the brother of Simon, casting a net into the sea, for they were fishermen. ¹⁷Jesus said to them, “Come after me, and I will make you into fishers for men.”

¹⁸Immediately they left their nets, and followed him.

¹⁹Going on a little further from there, he saw James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, who were also in the boat mending the nets.

¹¹My lovers and my friends stand aloof from my plague. My kinsmen stand far away.

¹Save me, God, for the waters have come up to my neck! ²I sink in deep mire, where there is no foothold. I have come into deep waters, where the floods overflow me. ³I am weary with my crying. My throat is dry. My eyes fail looking for my God.

¹⁴LORD, why do you reject my soul? Why do you hide your face from me? ¹⁵I am afflicted and ready to die from my youth up. While I suffer your terrors, I am distracted. ¹⁶Your fierce wrath has gone over me. Your terrors have cut me off.

²After six days Jesus took with him Peter, James, and John, and brought them up onto a high mountain privately by themselves, and he was changed into another form in front of them.

¹⁰Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise him. He has caused him to suffer. When you make his soul an offering for sin, he will see his offspring. He will prolong his days and the LORD’s pleasure will prosper in his hand.

³⁷He took with him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, and began to be sorrowful and severely troubled. ³⁸Then Jesus said to them, “My soul is exceedingly sorrowful, even to death. Stay here and watch with me.”
