Proverbs 21:24

¹Blessed is the man who doesn’t walk in the counsel of the wicked, nor stand on the path of sinners, nor sit in the seat of scoffers;

⁸Better is the end of a thing than its beginning. The patient in spirit is better than the proud in spirit.

⁹Don’t be hasty in your spirit to be angry, for anger rests in the bosom of fools.

¹²Before destruction the heart of man is proud, but before honor is humility.

²⁹Penalties are prepared for scoffers, and beatings for the backs of fools.

²²“How long, you simple ones, will you love simplicity? How long will mockers delight themselves in mockery, and fools hate knowledge?

⁵When Haman saw that Mordecai didn’t bow down nor pay him homage, Haman was full of wrath. ⁶But he scorned the thought of laying hands on Mordecai alone, for they had made known to him Mordecai’s people. Therefore Haman sought to destroy all the Jews who were throughout the whole kingdom of Ahasuerus, even Mordecai’s people.

¹⁶Then Herod, when he saw that he was mocked by the wise men, was exceedingly angry, and sent out and killed all the male children who were in Bethlehem and in all the surrounding countryside, from two years old and under, according to the exact time which he had learned from the wise men.

¹⁸Pride goes before destruction, and an arrogant spirit before a fall.

⁶We have heard of the pride of Moab, that he is very proud; even of his arrogance, his pride, and his wrath. His boastings are nothing.

²⁹“We have heard of the pride of Moab. He is very proud in his loftiness, his pride, his arrogance, and the arrogance of his heart.
