Proverbs 18:12

³³The fear of the LORD teaches wisdom. Before honor is humility.

⁵Likewise, you younger ones, be subject to the elder. Yes, all of you clothe yourselves with humility and subject yourselves to one another; for “God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.”

²When pride comes, then comes shame, but with humility comes wisdom.

¹⁸Pride goes before destruction, and an arrogant spirit before a fall.

²“Son of man, tell the prince of Tyre, ‘The Lord GOD says: “Because your heart is lifted up, and you have said, ‘I am a god, I sit in the seat of God, in the middle of the seas;’ yet you are man, and no god, though you set your heart as the heart of a god—

¹¹For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted.”

²³A man’s pride brings him low, but one of lowly spirit gains honor.

⁹Will you yet say before him who kills you, ‘I am God’? But you are man, and not God, in the hand of him who wounds you.

²¹On an appointed day, Herod dressed himself in royal clothing, sat on the throne, and gave a speech to them. ²²The people shouted, “The voice of a god, and not of a man!” ²³Immediately an angel of the Lord struck him, because he didn’t give God the glory. Then he was eaten by worms and died.

²³At the beginning of your petitions the commandment went out, and I have come to tell you, for you are greatly beloved. Therefore consider the matter and understand the vision.
