Job 31:35

⁴“Behold, I am of small account. What will I answer you? I lay my hand on my mouth. ⁵I have spoken once, and I will not answer; Yes, twice, but I will proceed no further.”

²¹withdraw your hand far from me, and don’t let your terror make me afraid. ²²Then call, and I will answer, or let me speak, and you answer me.

¹Then the LORD answered Job out of the whirlwind, ²“Who is this who darkens counsel by words without knowledge? ³Brace yourself like a man, for I will question you, then you answer me!

²⁴Why do you hide your face, and consider me your enemy?

²³“Oh that my words were now written! Oh that they were inscribed in a book! ²⁴That with an iron pen and lead they were engraved in the rock forever!

¹⁴How much less when you say you don’t see him. The cause is before him, and you wait for him!

³Oh that I knew where I might find him! That I might come even to his seat! ⁴I would set my cause in order before him, and fill my mouth with arguments. ⁵I would know the words which he would answer me, and understand what he would tell me. ⁶Would he contend with me in the greatness of his power? No, but he would listen to me. ⁷There the upright might reason with him, so I should be delivered forever from my judge.

⁷“Behold, I cry out of wrong, but I am not heard. I cry for help, but there is no justice.

⁶Behold, I am toward God even as you are. I am also formed out of the clay.

³“Surely I would speak to the Almighty. I desire to reason with God.
