Job 14:19

¹⁰He has broken me down on every side, and I am gone. He has plucked my hope up like a tree.

⁸For what is the hope of the godless, when he is cut off, when God takes away his life?

⁶My days are swifter than a weaver’s shuttle, and are spent without hope.

²¹All flesh died that moved on the earth, including birds, livestock, animals, every creeping thing that creeps on the earth, and every man. ²²All on the dry land, in whose nostrils was the breath of the spirit of life, died. ²³Every living thing was destroyed that was on the surface of the ground, including man, livestock, creeping things, and birds of the sky. They were destroyed from the earth. Only Noah was left, and those who were with him in the ship.

¹⁷I, even I, will bring the flood of waters on this earth, to destroy all flesh having the breath of life from under the sky. Everything that is in the earth will die.

¹¹Then he said to me, “Son of man, these bones are the whole house of Israel. Behold, they say, ‘Our bones are dried up, and our hope is lost. We are completely cut off.’

¹⁹I will tell my soul, “Soul, you have many goods laid up for many years. Take your ease, eat, drink, and be merry.”’

²⁰“But God said to him, ‘You foolish one, tonight your soul is required of you. The things which you have prepared—whose will they be?’

⁶As for me, I said in my prosperity, “I shall never be moved.” ⁷You, LORD, when you favored me, made my mountain stand strong; but when you hid your face, I was troubled.
