Luke 12:19

¹Don’t boast about tomorrow; for you don’t know what a day may bring.

¹³Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow let’s go into this city and spend a year there, trade, and make a profit.” ¹⁴Yet you don’t know what your life will be like tomorrow. For what is your life? For you are a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away. ¹⁵For you ought to say, “If the Lord wills, we will both live, and do this or that.”

³²If I fought with animals at Ephesus for human purposes, what does it profit me? If the dead are not raised, then “let’s eat and drink, for tomorrow we die.”

¹⁹“Don’t lay up treasures for yourselves on the earth, where moth and rust consume, and where thieves break through and steal; ²⁰but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust consume, and where thieves don’t break through and steal; ²¹for where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

⁹Rejoice, young man, in your youth, and let your heart cheer you in the days of your youth, and walk in the ways of your heart, and in the sight of your eyes; but know that for all these things God will bring you into judgment.

^11[+] Woe to those who rise up early in the morning, that they may follow strong drink, who stay late into the night, until wine inflames them!

¹⁹whose end is destruction, whose god is the belly, and whose glory is in their shame, who think about earthly things.

^5[+] You have lived in luxury on the earth, and taken your pleasure. You have nourished your hearts as in a day of slaughter.

¹¹The rich man’s wealth is his strong city, like an unscalable wall in his own imagination.

¹⁰Don’t trust in oppression. Don’t become vain in robbery. If riches increase, don’t set your heart on them.
