Isaiah 29:15

¹²Then he said to me, “Son of man, have you seen what the elders of the house of Israel do in the dark, every man in his rooms of imagery? For they say, ‘The LORD doesn’t see us. The LORD has forsaken the land.’”

¹⁰For you have trusted in your wickedness. You have said, ‘No one sees me.’ Your wisdom and your knowledge has perverted you. You have said in your heart, ‘I am, and there is no one else besides me.’

¹“Woe to the rebellious children”, says the LORD, “who take counsel, but not from me; and who make an alliance, but not with my Spirit, that they may add sin to sin;

⁷They say, “The LORD^[+] will not see, neither will Jacob’s God consider.” ⁸Consider, you senseless among the people; you fools, when will you be wise? ⁹He who implanted the ear, won’t he hear? He who formed the eye, won’t he see?

¹¹He says in his heart, “God has forgotten. He hides his face. He will never see it.” ¹²Arise, LORD! God, lift up your hand! Don’t forget the helpless. ¹³Why does the wicked person condemn God, and say in his heart, “God won’t call me into account”?

²⁴Can anyone hide himself in secret places so that I can’t see him?” says the LORD. “Don’t I fill heaven and earth?” says the LORD.

¹Meanwhile, when a multitude of many thousands had gathered together, so much so that they trampled on each other, he began to tell his disciples first of all, “Beware of the yeast of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy. ²But there is nothing covered up that will not be revealed, nor hidden that will not be known. ³Therefore whatever you have said in the darkness will be heard in the light. What you have spoken in the ear in the inner rooms will be proclaimed on the housetops.

⁷Behold, they spew with their mouth. Swords are in their lips, “For”, they say, “who hears us?”

¹LORD, you have searched me, and you know me. ²You know my sitting down and my rising up. You perceive my thoughts from afar. ³You search out my path and my lying down, and are acquainted with all my ways. ⁴For there is not a word on my tongue, but behold, LORD, you know it altogether. ⁵You hem me in behind and before. You laid your hand on me. ⁶This knowledge is beyond me. It’s lofty. I can’t attain it. ⁷Where could I go from your Spirit? Or where could I flee from your presence? ⁸If I ascend up into heaven, you are there. If I make my bed in Sheol,^[+] behold, you are there!

¹³You say, ‘What does God know? Can he judge through the thick darkness? ¹⁴Thick clouds are a covering to him, so that he doesn’t see. He walks on the vault of the sky.’
