Hebrews 3:8

¹⁴Blessed is the man who always fears; but one who hardens his heart falls into trouble.

⁷He called the name of the place Massah,^[+] and Meribah,^[+] because the children of Israel quarreled, and because they tested the LORD, saying, “Is the LORD among us, or not?”

¹¹But they refused to listen, and turned their backs, and stopped their ears, that they might not hear. ¹²Yes, they made their hearts as hard as flint, lest they might hear the law and the words which the LORD of Armies had sent by his Spirit by the former prophets. Therefore great wrath came from the LORD of Armies.

⁷But the house of Israel will not listen to you, for they will not listen to me; for all the house of Israel are obstinate^[+] and hard-hearted. ⁸Behold, I have made your face hard against their faces, and your forehead hard against their foreheads. ⁹I have made your forehead as a diamond, harder than flint. Don’t be afraid of them, neither be dismayed at their looks, though they are a rebellious house.”

²⁰But when his heart was lifted up, and his spirit was hardened so that he dealt proudly, he was deposed from his kingly throne, and they took his glory from him.

⁵⁶Yet they tempted and rebelled against the Most High God, and didn’t keep his testimonies,

¹⁸They tempted God in their heart by asking food according to their desire.

¹⁵for this people’s heart has grown callous, their ears are dull of hearing, and they have closed their eyes; or else perhaps they might perceive with their eyes, hear with their ears, understand with their heart, and would turn again, and I would heal them.’

²⁶Yet they didn’t listen to me or incline their ear, but made their neck stiff. They did worse than their fathers.

¹He who is often rebuked and stiffens his neck will be destroyed suddenly, with no remedy.
