Exodus 20:12

¹Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. ²“Honor your father and mother,” which is the first commandment with a promise: ³“that it may be well with you, and you may live long on the earth.”

²⁰Children, obey your parents in all things, for this pleases the Lord.

¹⁶“Honor your father and your mother, as the LORD your God commanded you, that your days may be long and that it may go well with you in the land which the LORD your God gives you.

¹⁰For Moses said, ‘Honor your father and your mother;’and, ‘He who speaks evil of father or mother, let him be put to death.’

²²Listen to your father who gave you life, and don’t despise your mother when she is old. ²³Buy the truth, and don’t sell it. Get wisdom, discipline, and understanding. ²⁴The father of the righteous has great joy. Whoever fathers a wise child delights in him. ²⁵Let your father and your mother be glad! Let her who bore you rejoice!

³“‘Each one of you shall respect his mother and his father. You shall keep my Sabbaths. I am the LORD your God.

¹⁷“The eye that mocks at his father, and scorns obedience to his mother, the ravens of the valley shall pick it out, the young eagles shall eat it.

⁸My son, listen to your father’s instruction, and don’t forsake your mother’s teaching; ⁹for they will be a garland to grace your head, and chains around your neck.

¹⁹‘Honor your father and your mother.’And, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’”

²⁰Whoever curses his father or his mother, his lamp shall be put out in blackness of darkness.
