Psalms 37:24

¹⁶for a righteous man falls seven times and rises up again, but the wicked are overthrown by calamity.

^14[+] The LORD upholds all who fall, and raises up all those who are bowed down.

¹⁸When I said, “My foot is slipping!” Your loving kindness, LORD, held me up.

⁷But as for me, I will look to the LORD. I will wait for the God of my salvation. My God will hear me. ⁸Don’t rejoice against me, my enemy. When I fall, I will arise. When I sit in darkness, the LORD will be a light to me.

²⁷My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. ²⁸I give eternal life to them. They will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand. ²⁹My Father who has given them to me is greater than all. No one is able to snatch them out of my Father’s hand. ³⁰I and the Father are one.”

³¹The Lord said, “Simon, Simon, behold, Satan asked to have all of you, that he might sift you as wheat, ³²but I prayed for you, that your faith wouldn’t fail. You, when once you have turned again, establish your brothers.”

²He brought me up also out of a horrible pit, out of the miry clay. He set my feet on a rock, and gave me a firm place to stand.

¹⁹Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the LORD delivers him out of them all. ²⁰He protects all of his bones. Not one of them is broken.

⁶The LORD upholds the humble. He brings the wicked down to the ground.

³⁴Simeon blessed them, and said to Mary, his mother, “Behold, this child is appointed for the falling and the rising of many in Israel, and for a sign which is spoken against.
