Psalms 147:8

¹⁰who gives rain on the earth, and sends waters on the fields;

⁹You visit the earth, and water it. You greatly enrich it. The river of God is full of water. You provide them grain, for so you have ordained it. ¹⁰You drench its furrows. You level its ridges. You soften it with showers. You bless it with a crop. ¹¹You crown the year with your bounty. Your carts overflow with abundance. ¹²The wilderness grasslands overflow. The hills are clothed with gladness. ¹³The pastures are covered with flocks. The valleys also are clothed with grain. They shout for joy! They also sing.

¹⁴When I bring a cloud over the earth, that the rainbow will be seen in the cloud,

¹⁷Yet he didn’t leave himself without witness, in that he did good and gave you^[+] rains from the sky and fruitful seasons, filling our hearts with food and gladness.”

⁴⁵that you may be children of your Father who is in heaven. For he makes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the just and the unjust.

⁸He binds up the waters in his thick clouds, and the cloud is not burst under them. ⁹He encloses the face of his throne, and spreads his cloud on it.

¹³He waters the mountains from his rooms. The earth is filled with the fruit of your works. ¹⁴He causes the grass to grow for the livestock, and plants for man to cultivate, that he may produce food out of the earth:

¹Praise the LORD!^[+] Praise the LORD’s^[+] name! Praise him, you servants of the LORD,

⁴⁴On the seventh time, he said, “Behold, a small cloud, like a man’s hand, is rising out of the sea.” He said, “Go up, tell Ahab, ‘Get ready and go down, so that the rain doesn’t stop you.’”

⁴⁵In a little while, the sky grew black with clouds and wind, and there was a great rain. Ahab rode, and went to Jezreel.

¹⁷Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain, and it didn’t rain on the earth for three years and six months. ¹⁸He prayed again, and the sky gave rain, and the earth produced its fruit.
