Psalms 119:78

⁵¹The arrogant mock me excessively, but I don’t swerve from your law.

²⁰For what glory is it if, when you sin, you patiently endure beating? But if when you do well, you patiently endure suffering, this is commendable with God.

³Yes, no one who waits for you will be shamed. They will be shamed who deal treacherously without cause.

²⁵But this happened so that the word may be fulfilled which was written in their law, ‘They hated me without a cause.’

²³Though princes sit and slander me, your servant will meditate on your statutes.

⁷For without cause they have hidden their net in a pit for me. Without cause they have dug a pit for my soul.

³²The proud one will stumble and fall, and no one will raise him up. I will kindle a fire in his cities, and it will devour all who are around him.”

³LORD, my God, if I have done this, if there is iniquity in my hands, ⁴if I have rewarded evil to him who was at peace with me (yes, I have plundered him who without cause was my adversary), ⁵let the enemy pursue my soul, and overtake it; yes, let him tread my life down to the earth, and lay my glory in the dust. Selah.

²¹You have rebuked the proud who are cursed, who wander from your commandments.

⁸⁵The proud have dug pits for me, contrary to your law. ⁸⁶All of your commandments are faithful. They persecute me wrongfully. Help me!
