Psalms 109:24

³When I kept silence, my bones wasted away through my groaning all day long. ⁴For day and night your hand was heavy on me. My strength was sapped in the heat of summer. Selah.

¹²Therefore lift up the hands that hang down and the feeble knees,

¹⁴I am poured out like water. All my bones are out of joint. My heart is like wax. It is melted within me.

²When he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was hungry afterward.

¹⁰When I wept and I fasted, that was to my reproach.

²⁰My bones stick to my skin and to my flesh. I have escaped by the skin of my teeth.

⁵My wounds are loathsome and corrupt because of my foolishness. ⁶I am in pain and bowed down greatly. I go mourning all day long. ⁷For my waist is filled with burning. There is no soundness in my flesh. ⁸I am faint and severely bruised. I have groaned by reason of the anguish of my heart.

²⁷in labor and travail, in watchings often, in hunger and thirst, in fastings often, and in cold and nakedness.

¹³But as for me, when they were sick, my clothing was sackcloth. I afflicted my soul with fasting. My prayer returned into my own bosom. ¹⁴I behaved myself as though it had been my friend or my brother. I bowed down mourning, as one who mourns his mother.

⁴My heart is blighted like grass, and withered, for I forget to eat my bread. ⁵By reason of the voice of my groaning, my bones stick to my skin.
