Proverbs 27:9

²³The heart of the wise instructs his mouth, and adds learning to his lips. ²⁴Pleasant words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and health to the bones.

²¹The wise in heart shall be called prudent. Pleasantness of the lips promotes instruction.

⁵You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil. My cup runs over.

²³Joy comes to a man with the reply of his mouth. How good is a word at the right time!

¹⁵wine that makes the heart of man glad, oil to make his face to shine, and bread that strengthens man’s heart.

¹⁰How beautiful is your love, my sister, my bride! How much better is your love than wine, the fragrance of your perfumes than all kinds of spices!

¹⁵For we are a sweet aroma of Christ to God in those who are saved and in those who perish: ¹⁶to the one a stench from death to death, to the other a sweet aroma from life to life. Who is sufficient for these things?

³Therefore Mary took a pound^[+] of ointment of pure nard, very precious, and anointed Jesus’ feet and wiped his feet with her hair. The house was filled with the fragrance of the ointment.

⁷You have loved righteousness, and hated wickedness. Therefore God, your God, has anointed you with the oil of gladness above your fellows. ⁸All your garments smell like myrrh, aloes, and cassia. Out of ivory palaces stringed instruments have made you glad.

²It is like the precious oil on the head, that ran down on the beard, even Aaron’s beard, that came down on the edge of his robes,
