Proverbs 27:11

^1[+] The proverbs of Solomon. A wise son makes a glad father; but a foolish son brings grief to his mother.

⁴²So I will have an answer for him who reproaches me, for I trust in your word.

^15[+] My son, if your heart is wise, then my heart will be glad, even mine. ¹⁶Yes, my heart will rejoice when your lips speak what is right.

²⁴The father of the righteous has great joy. Whoever fathers a wise child delights in him. ²⁵Let your father and your mother be glad! Let her who bore you rejoice!

⁴I rejoice greatly that I have found some of your children walking in truth, even as we have been commanded by the Father.

¹⁸I hated all my labor in which I labored under the sun, because I must leave it to the man who comes after me. ¹⁹Who knows whether he will be a wise man or a fool? Yet he will have rule over all of my labor in which I have labored, and in which I have shown myself wise under the sun. This also is vanity.

²⁰Therefore I began to cause my heart to despair concerning all the labor in which I had labored under the sun. ²¹For there is a man whose labor is with wisdom, with knowledge, and with skillfulness; yet he shall leave it for his portion to a man who has not labored for it. This also is vanity and a great evil.

²⁰A wise son makes a father glad, but a foolish man despises his mother.

⁷For we have much joy and comfort in your love, because the hearts of the saints have been refreshed through you, brother.

¹⁹I, Paul, write this with my own hand: I will repay it (not to mention to you that you owe to me even your own self besides). ²⁰Yes, brother, let me have joy from you in the Lord. Refresh my heart in the Lord.

³Whoever loves wisdom brings joy to his father; but a companion of prostitutes squanders his wealth.
