Proverbs 23:24

^1[+] The proverbs of Solomon. A wise son makes a glad father; but a foolish son brings grief to his mother.

²⁰A wise son makes a father glad, but a foolish man despises his mother.

³Whoever loves wisdom brings joy to his father; but a companion of prostitutes squanders his wealth.

^15[+] My son, if your heart is wise, then my heart will be glad, even mine. ¹⁶Yes, my heart will rejoice when your lips speak what is right.

²⁰Yes, brother, let me have joy from you in the Lord. Refresh my heart in the Lord.

⁹yet for love’s sake I rather appeal to you, being such a one as Paul, the aged, but also a prisoner of Jesus Christ.

⁹Now therefore don’t hold him guiltless, for you are a wise man; and you will know what you ought to do to him, and you shall bring his gray head down to Sheol^[+] with blood.”

¹⁹Who knows whether he will be a wise man or a fool? Yet he will have rule over all of my labor in which I have labored, and in which I have shown myself wise under the sun. This also is vanity.

¹Now the days of David came near that he should die; and he commanded Solomon his son, saying, ²“I am going the way of all the earth. You be strong therefore, and show yourself a man; ³and keep the instruction of the LORD your God, to walk in his ways, to keep his statutes, his commandments, his ordinances, and his testimonies, according to that which is written in the law of Moses, that you may prosper in all that you do and wherever you turn yourself.

⁴⁸Also thus said the king, ‘Blessed be the LORD, the God of Israel, who has given one to sit on my throne today, my eyes even seeing it.’”
