Proverbs 25:18

⁴My soul is among lions. I lie among those who are set on fire, even the sons of men, whose teeth are spears and arrows, and their tongue a sharp sword.

¹⁸There is one who speaks rashly like the piercing of a sword, but the tongue of the wise heals.

⁸Their tongue is a deadly arrow. It speaks deceit. One speaks peaceably to his neighbor with his mouth, but in his heart, he waits to ambush him.

⁶And the tongue is a fire. The world of iniquity among our members is the tongue, which defiles the whole body, and sets on fire the course of nature, and is set on fire by Gehenna.

³“They bend their tongue, as their bow, for falsehood. They have grown strong in the land, but not for truth; for they proceed from evil to evil, and they don’t know me,” says the LORD.

³What will be given to you, and what will be done more to you, you deceitful tongue? ⁴Sharp arrows of the mighty, with coals of juniper.

²Your tongue plots destruction, like a sharp razor, working deceitfully.

³They have sharpened their tongues like a serpent. Viper’s poison is under their lips. Selah.

²⁸Don’t be a witness against your neighbor without cause. Don’t deceive with your lips.

²¹His mouth was smooth as butter, but his heart was war. His words were softer than oil, yet they were drawn swords.
