Proverbs 22:3

¹²A prudent man sees danger and takes refuge; but the simple pass on, and suffer for it.

¹⁶A wise man fears and shuns evil, but the fool is hot headed and reckless.

¹He who is often rebuked and stiffens his neck will be destroyed suddenly, with no remedy.

²For you yourselves know well that the day of the Lord comes like a thief in the night. ³For when they are saying, “Peace and safety,” then sudden destruction will come on them, like birth pains on a pregnant woman. Then they will in no way escape. ⁴But you, brothers, aren’t in darkness, that the day should overtake you like a thief. ⁵You are all children of light and children of the day. We don’t belong to the night, nor to darkness, ⁶so then let’s not sleep, as the rest do, but let’s watch and be sober.

⁷By faith Noah, being warned about things not yet seen, moved with godly fear,^[+] prepared a ship for the saving of his house, through which he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness which is according to faith.

²⁰Come, my people, enter into your rooms, and shut your doors behind you. Hide yourself for a little moment, until the indignation is past. ²¹For, behold, the LORD comes out of his place to punish the inhabitants of the earth for their iniquity. The earth also will disclose her blood, and will no longer cover her slain.

⁷I saw among the simple ones. I discerned among the youths a young man void of understanding,

²⁰Those who feared the LORD’s word among the servants of Pharaoh made their servants and their livestock flee into the houses. ²¹Whoever didn’t respect the LORD’s word left his servants and his livestock in the field.

²²He followed her immediately, as an ox goes to the slaughter, as a fool stepping into a noose. ²³Until an arrow strikes through his liver, as a bird hurries to the snare, and doesn’t know that it will cost his life.

¹⁸that by two immutable things, in which it is impossible for God to lie, we may have a strong encouragement, who have fled for refuge to take hold of the hope set before us.
