Numbers 4:5

³After the second veil was the tabernacle which is called the Holy of Holies,

⁵¹Behold, the veil of the temple was torn in two from the top to the bottom. The earth quaked and the rocks were split.

¹⁵“When Aaron and his sons have finished covering the sanctuary and all the furniture of the sanctuary, as the camp moves forward; after that, the sons of Kohath shall come to carry it; but they shall not touch the sanctuary, lest they die. The sons of Kohath shall carry these things belonging to the Tent of Meeting.

²David arose and went with all the people who were with him from Baale Judah, to bring up from there God’s ark, which is called by the Name, even the name of the LORD of Armies who sits above the cherubim. ³They set God’s ark on a new cart, and brought it out of Abinadab’s house that was on the hill; and Uzzah and Ahio, the sons of Abinadab, drove the new cart. ⁴They brought it out of Abinadab’s house which was in the hill, with God’s ark; and Ahio went before the ark. ⁵David and all the house of Israel played before the LORD with all kinds of instruments made of cypress wood, with harps, with stringed instruments, with tambourines, with castanets, and with cymbals.

⁶When they came to the threshing floor of Nacon, Uzzah reached for God’s ark and took hold of it, for the cattle stumbled. ⁷The LORD’s anger burned against Uzzah, and God struck him there for his error; and he died there by God’s ark. ⁸David was displeased because the LORD had broken out against Uzzah; and he called that place Perez Uzzah^[+] to this day. ⁹David was afraid of the LORD that day; and he said, “How could the LORD’s ark come to me?”

¹Bezalel made the ark of acacia wood. Its length was two and a half cubits,^[+] and its width a cubit and a half, and a cubit and a half its height. ²He overlaid it with pure gold inside and outside, and made a molding of gold for it around it. ³He cast four rings of gold for it in its four feet—two rings on its one side, and two rings on its other side. ⁴He made poles of acacia wood and overlaid them with gold. ⁵He put the poles into the rings on the sides of the ark, to bear the ark. ⁶He made a mercy seat of pure gold. Its length was two and a half cubits, and a cubit and a half its width. ⁷He made two cherubim of gold. He made them of beaten work, at the two ends of the mercy seat: ⁸one cherub at the one end, and one cherub at the other end. He made the cherubim of one piece with the mercy seat at its two ends. ⁹The cherubim spread out their wings above, covering the mercy seat with their wings, with their faces toward one another. The faces of the cherubim were toward the mercy seat.

⁷He will destroy in this mountain the surface of the covering that covers all peoples, and the veil that is spread over all nations.

³You shall put the ark of the covenant in it, and you shall screen the ark with the veil.

²⁷Of Kohath was the family of the Amramites, the family of the Izharites, the family of the Hebronites, and the family of the Uzzielites. These are the families of the Kohathites. ²⁸According to the number of all the males from a month old and upward, there were eight thousand six hundred keeping the requirements of the sanctuary.

²⁹The families of the sons of Kohath shall encamp on the south side of the tabernacle. ³⁰The prince of the fathers’ house of the families of the Kohathites shall be Elizaphan the son of Uzziel. ³¹Their duty shall be the ark, the table, the lamp stand, the altars, the vessels of the sanctuary with which they minister, the screen, and all its service. ³²Eleazar the son of Aaron the priest shall be prince of the princes of the Levites, with the oversight of those who keep the requirements of the sanctuary.

¹⁰“They shall make an ark of acacia wood. Its length shall be two and a half cubits,^[+] its width a cubit and a half, and a cubit and a half its height. ¹¹You shall overlay it with pure gold. You shall overlay it inside and outside, and you shall make a gold molding around it. ¹²You shall cast four rings of gold for it, and put them in its four feet. Two rings shall be on the one side of it, and two rings on the other side of it. ¹³You shall make poles of acacia wood, and overlay them with gold. ¹⁴You shall put the poles into the rings on the sides of the ark to carry the ark. ¹⁵The poles shall be in the rings of the ark. They shall not be taken from it. ¹⁶You shall put the covenant which I shall give you into the ark. ¹⁷You shall make a mercy seat of pure gold. Two and a half cubits shall be its length, and a cubit and a half its width. ¹⁸You shall make two cherubim of hammered gold. You shall make them at the two ends of the mercy seat. ¹⁹Make one cherub at the one end, and one cherub at the other end. You shall make the cherubim on its two ends of one piece with the mercy seat. ²⁰The cherubim shall spread out their wings upward, covering the mercy seat with their wings, with their faces toward one another. The faces of the cherubim shall be toward the mercy seat. ²¹You shall put the mercy seat on top of the ark, and in the ark you shall put the covenant that I will give you. ²²There I will meet with you, and I will tell you from above the mercy seat, from between the two cherubim which are on the ark of the covenant, all that I command you for the children of Israel.

¹⁶“All who were counted of the camp of Reuben were one hundred fifty-one thousand four hundred fifty, according to their armies. They shall set out second.

¹⁷“Then the Tent of Meeting shall set out, with the camp of the Levites in the middle of the camps. As they encamp, so shall they set out, every man in his place, by their standards.
