Nehemiah 9:16

²⁹and testified against them, that you might bring them again to your law. Yet they were arrogant, and didn’t listen to your commandments, but sinned against your ordinances (which if a man does, he shall live in them), turned their backs, stiffened their neck, and would not hear.

¹¹But my people didn’t listen to my voice. Israel desired none of me. ¹²So I let them go after the stubbornness of their hearts, that they might walk in their own counsels. ¹³Oh that my people would listen to me, that Israel would walk in my ways! ¹⁴I would soon subdue their enemies, and turn my hand against their adversaries.

¹⁰and showed signs and wonders against Pharaoh, against all his servants, and against all the people of his land, for you knew that they dealt proudly against them, and made a name for yourself, as it is today.

⁵But according to your hardness and unrepentant heart you are treasuring up for yourself wrath in the day of wrath, revelation, and of the righteous judgment of God,

²⁷For I know your rebellion and your stiff neck. Behold, while I am yet alive with you today, you have been rebellious against the LORD. How much more after my death?

¹⁵while it is said, “Today if you will hear his voice, don’t harden your hearts, as in the rebellion.”

⁴Because I knew that you are obstinate, and your neck is an iron sinew, and your brow bronze;

¹He who is often rebuked and stiffens his neck will be destroyed suddenly, with no remedy.

⁶We have sinned with our fathers. We have committed iniquity. We have done wickedly.

⁸“Hear, my people, and I will testify to you, Israel, if you would listen to me!
