Mark 14:38

⁴¹Watch and pray, that you don’t enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.”

³⁶Therefore be watchful all the time, praying that you may be counted worthy to escape all these things that will happen, and to stand before the Son of Man.”

⁴²Watch therefore, for you don’t know in what hour your Lord comes.

⁴⁰When he was at the place, he said to them, “Pray that you don’t enter into temptation.”

¹⁸For I know that in me, that is, in my flesh, dwells no good thing. For desire is present with me, but I don’t find it doing that which is good. ¹⁹For the good which I desire, I don’t do; but the evil which I don’t desire, that I practice. ²⁰But if what I don’t desire, that I do, it is no more I that do it, but sin which dwells in me. ²¹I find then the law that, while I desire to do good, evil is present. ²²For I delight in God’s law after the inward person, ²³but I see a different law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity under the law of sin which is in my members. ²⁴What a wretched man I am! Who will deliver me out of the body of this death? ²⁵I thank God through Jesus Christ, our Lord! So then with the mind, I myself serve God’s law, but with the flesh, sin’s law.

²Wake up and strengthen the things that remain, which you were about to throw away,^[+] for I have found no works of yours perfected before my God. ³Remember therefore how you have received and heard. Keep it and repent. If therefore you won’t watch, I will come as a thief, and you won’t know what hour I will come upon you.

⁴⁶and said to them, “Why do you sleep? Rise and pray that you may not enter into temptation.”

¹⁷For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, that you may not do the things that you desire.

¹³Bring us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. For yours is the Kingdom, the power, and the glory forever. Amen.’

⁸Be sober and self-controlled. Be watchful. Your adversary, the devil, walks around like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.
