Matthew 20:24

⁵Likewise, you younger ones, be subject to the elder. Yes, all of you clothe yourselves with humility and subject yourselves to one another; for “God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.”

²³They began to question among themselves which of them it was who would do this thing.

²⁴A dispute also arose among them, which of them was considered to be greatest. ²⁵He said to them, “The kings of the nations lord it over them, and those who have authority over them are called ‘benefactors.’

⁴Love is patient and is kind. Love doesn’t envy. Love doesn’t brag, is not proud,

³doing nothing through rivalry or through conceit, but in humility, each counting others better than himself;

¹⁰Pride only breeds quarrels, but wisdom is with people who take advice.

⁵Or do you think that the Scripture says in vain, “The Spirit who lives in us yearns jealously”? ⁶But he gives more grace. Therefore it says, “God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.”

⁴¹When the ten heard it, they began to be indignant toward James and John.
