Luke 12:40

⁶so then let’s not sleep, as the rest do, but let’s watch and be sober.

¹³Watch therefore, for you don’t know the day nor the hour in which the Son of Man is coming.

¹¹Do this, knowing the time, that it is already time for you to awaken out of sleep, for salvation is now nearer to us than when we first believed.

⁴⁴Therefore also be ready, for in an hour that you don’t expect, the Son of Man will come.

¹²looking for and earnestly desiring the coming of the day of God, which will cause the burning heavens to be dissolved, and the elements will melt with fervent heat? ¹³But, according to his promise, we look for new heavens and a new earth, in which righteousness dwells.

¹⁴Therefore, beloved, seeing that you look for these things, be diligent to be found in peace, without defect and blameless in his sight.

⁷Let’s rejoice and be exceedingly glad, and let’s give the glory to him. For the wedding of the Lamb has come, and his wife has made herself ready.”

⁴²Watch therefore, for you don’t know in what hour your Lord comes.

³³Watch, keep alert, and pray; for you don’t know when the time is.

³⁴“It is like a man traveling to another country, having left his house and given authority to his servants, and to each one his work, and also commanded the doorkeeper to keep watch. ³⁵Watch therefore, for you don’t know when the lord of the house is coming—whether at evening, or at midnight, or when the rooster crows, or in the morning; ³⁶lest, coming suddenly, he might find you sleeping.

³⁴“So be careful, or your hearts will be loaded down with carousing, drunkenness, and cares of this life, and that day will come on you suddenly. ³⁵For it will come like a snare on all those who dwell on the surface of all the earth. ³⁶Therefore be watchful all the time, praying that you may be counted worthy to escape all these things that will happen, and to stand before the Son of Man.”

¹⁴But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, for its lusts.
