Lamentations 5:20

¹How long, LORD? Will you forget me forever? How long will you hide your face from me?

²⁴Why do you hide your face, and forget our affliction and our oppression?

¹⁹Have you utterly rejected Judah? Has your soul loathed Zion? Why have you struck us, and there is no healing for us? We looked for peace, but no good came; and for a time of healing, and behold, dismay! ²⁰We acknowledge, LORD, our wickedness, and the iniquity of our fathers; for we have sinned against you. ²¹Do not abhor us, for your name’s sake. Do not disgrace the throne of your glory. Remember, and don’t break your covenant with us.

⁹Don’t be furious, LORD. Don’t remember iniquity forever. Look and see, we beg you, we are all your people. ¹⁰Your holy cities have become a wilderness. Zion has become a wilderness, Jerusalem a desolation. ¹¹Our holy and our beautiful house where our fathers praised you is burned with fire. All our pleasant places are laid waste. ¹²Will you hold yourself back for these things, LORD? Will you keep silent and punish us very severely?

⁵How long, LORD? Will you be angry forever? Will your jealousy burn like fire?

⁷“Will the Lord reject us forever? Will he be favorable no more? ⁸Has his loving kindness vanished forever? Does his promise fail for generations? ⁹Has God forgotten to be gracious? Has he, in anger, withheld his compassion?” Selah. ¹⁰Then I thought, “I will appeal to this: the years of the right hand of the Most High.”

¹God, why have you rejected us forever? Why does your anger smolder against the sheep of your pasture?

⁴⁶How long, LORD? Will you hide yourself forever? Will your wrath burn like fire?

³LORD, how long will the wicked, how long will the wicked triumph? ⁴They pour out arrogant words. All the evildoers boast.

⁵Will you be angry with us forever? Will you draw out your anger to all generations?
