Job 5:13

¹⁹For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, “He has taken the wise in their craftiness.”

¹⁵The nations have sunk down in the pit that they made. In the net which they hid, their own foot is taken. ¹⁶The LORD has made himself known. He has executed judgment. The wicked is snared by the work of his own hands. Meditation. Selah.

¹⁹For it is written, “I will destroy the wisdom of the wise. I will bring the discernment of the discerning to nothing.”

²⁰Where is the wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the debater of this age? Hasn’t God made foolish the wisdom of this world?

¹⁵He has dug a hole, and has fallen into the pit which he made. ¹⁶The trouble he causes shall return to his own head. His violence shall come down on the crown of his own head.

²⁶With the pure, you will show yourself pure. With the crooked you will show yourself shrewd.

⁵¹He has shown strength with his arm. He has scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts.

²⁵but when this became known to the king, he commanded by letters that his wicked plan, which he had planned against the Jews, should return on his own head, and that he and his sons should be hanged on the gallows.

⁷For without cause they have hidden their net in a pit for me. Without cause they have dug a pit for my soul. ⁸Let destruction come on him unawares. Let his net that he has hidden catch himself. Let him fall into that destruction.

¹⁰So they hanged Haman on the gallows that he had prepared for Mordecai. Then the king’s wrath was pacified.

³¹Someone told David, saying, “Ahithophel is among the conspirators with Absalom.” David said, “LORD, please turn the counsel of Ahithophel into foolishness.”
