Job 24:19

¹⁴They are appointed as a flock for Sheol.Death ^[+] shall be their shepherd. The upright shall have dominion over them in the morning. Their beauty shall decay in Sheol,far from ^[+] their mansion.

³²The wicked is brought down in his calamity, but in death, the righteous has a refuge.

¹³They spend their days in prosperity. In an instant they go down to Sheol.

²²The beggar died, and he was carried away by the angels to Abraham’s bosom. The rich man also died and was buried.

²⁰“But God said to him, ‘You foolish one, tonight your soul is required of you. The things which you have prepared—whose will they be?’

²As smoke is driven away, so drive them away. As wax melts before the fire, so let the wicked perish at the presence of God.

⁴For to him who is joined with all the living there is hope; for a living dog is better than a dead lion. ⁵For the living know that they will die, but the dead don’t know anything, neither do they have any more a reward; for their memory is forgotten. ⁶Also their love, their hatred, and their envy has perished long ago; neither do they any longer have a portion forever in anything that is done under the sun.

¹⁵My brothers have dealt deceitfully as a brook, as the channel of brooks that pass away; ¹⁶which are black by reason of the ice, in which the snow hides itself. ¹⁷In the dry season, they vanish. When it is hot, they are consumed out of their place.

⁸Let them be like a snail which melts and passes away, like the stillborn child, who has not seen the sun. ⁹Before your pots can feel the heat of the thorns, he will sweep away the green and the burning alike.

²³One dies in his full strength, being wholly at ease and quiet.
