Job 16:21

¹⁰Whatever has been, its name was given long ago; and it is known what man is; neither can he contend with him who is mightier than he.

²⁰But indeed, O man, who are you to reply against God? Will the thing formed ask him who formed it, “Why did you make me like this?”

⁹Woe to him who strives with his Maker— a clay pot among the clay pots of the earth! Shall the clay ask him who fashions it, ‘What are you making?’ or your work, ‘He has no hands’?

²²Then call, and I will answer, or let me speak, and you answer me.

³⁵oh that I had one to hear me! Behold, here is my signature! Let the Almighty answer me! Let the accuser write my indictment!

³“Surely I would speak to the Almighty. I desire to reason with God.

³⁴Let him take his rod away from me. Let his terror not make me afraid; ³⁵then I would speak, and not fear him, for I am not so in myself.

¹Moreover the LORD answered Job, ²“Shall he who argues contend with the Almighty? He who argues with God, let him answer it.”

³Then Job answered the LORD, ⁴“Behold, I am of small account. What will I answer you? I lay my hand on my mouth. ⁵I have spoken once, and I will not answer; Yes, twice, but I will proceed no further.”

³Oh that I knew where I might find him! That I might come even to his seat! ⁴I would set my cause in order before him, and fill my mouth with arguments. ⁵I would know the words which he would answer me, and understand what he would tell me. ⁶Would he contend with me in the greatness of his power? No, but he would listen to me. ⁷There the upright might reason with him, so I should be delivered forever from my judge.
