Job 16:17

⁸The sacrifice made by the wicked is an abomination to the LORD, but the prayer of the upright is his delight.

¹⁸If I cherished sin in my heart, the Lord wouldn’t have listened. ¹⁹But most certainly, God has listened. He has heard the voice of my prayer.

⁵If you want to seek God diligently, make your supplication to the Almighty. ⁶If you were pure and upright, surely now he would awaken for you, and make the habitation of your righteousness prosperous.

⁶I hold fast to my righteousness, and will not let it go. My heart will not reproach me so long as I live. ⁷“Let my enemy be as the wicked. Let him who rises up against me be as the unrighteous.

⁸but let them be covered with sackcloth, both man and animal, and let them cry mightily to God. Yes, let them turn everyone from his evil way and from the violence that is in his hands.

⁶Their webs won’t become garments. They won’t cover themselves with their works. Their works are works of iniquity, and acts of violence are in their hands.

²⁰the wicked man writhes in pain all his days, even the number of years that are laid up for the oppressor.

²⁷“Behold, I know your thoughts, the plans with which you would wrong me. ²⁸For you say, ‘Where is the house of the prince? Where is the tent in which the wicked lived?’

¹⁴If iniquity is in your hand, put it far away. Don’t let unrighteousness dwell in your tents.

¹²because I delivered the poor who cried, and the fatherless also, who had no one to help him, ¹³the blessing of him who was ready to perish came on me, and I caused the widow’s heart to sing for joy. ¹⁴I put on righteousness, and it clothed me. My justice was as a robe and a diadem. ¹⁵I was eyes to the blind, and feet to the lame. ¹⁶I was a father to the needy. I researched the cause of him whom I didn’t know. ¹⁷I broke the jaws of the unrighteous and plucked the prey out of his teeth.
