John 9:3

⁴But when Jesus heard it, he said, “This sickness is not to death, but for the glory of God, that God’s Son may be glorified by it.”

¹For all this I laid to my heart, even to explore all this: that the righteous, and the wise, and their works, are in the hand of God; whether it is love or hatred, man doesn’t know it; all is before them. ²All things come alike to all. There is one event to the righteous and to the wicked; to the good, to the clean, to the unclean, to him who sacrifices, and to him who doesn’t sacrifice. As is the good, so is the sinner; he who takes an oath, as he who fears an oath.

⁴⁰Jesus said to her, “Didn’t I tell you that if you believed, you would see God’s glory?”

³The LORD said to Satan, “Have you considered my servant Job? For there is no one like him in the earth, a blameless and an upright man, one who fears God, and turns away from evil. He still maintains his integrity, although you incited me against him, to ruin him without cause.”

⁴Satan answered the LORD, and said, “Skin for skin. Yes, all that a man has he will give for his life. ⁵But stretch out your hand now, and touch his bone and his flesh, and he will renounce you to your face.”

⁶The LORD said to Satan, “Behold, he is in your hand. Only spare his life.”

⁵the blind receive their sight, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear,the dead are raised up, and the poor have good news preached to them.

⁷It was so, that after the LORD had spoken these words to Job, the LORD said to Eliphaz the Temanite, “My wrath is kindled against you, and against your two friends; for you have not spoken of me the thing that is right, as my servant Job has.

⁸The LORD said to Satan, “Have you considered my servant, Job? For there is no one like him in the earth, a blameless and an upright man, one who fears God, and turns away from evil.”

⁹Then Satan answered the LORD, and said, “Does Job fear God for nothing? ¹⁰Haven’t you made a hedge around him, and around his house, and around all that he has, on every side? You have blessed the work of his hands, and his substance is increased in the land. ¹¹But stretch out your hand now, and touch all that he has, and he will renounce you to your face.”

¹²The LORD said to Satan, “Behold, ^[+] all that he has is in your power. Only on himself don’t stretch out your hand.” So Satan went out from the presence of the LORD.

²¹When they had further threatened them, they let them go, finding no way to punish them, because of the people; for everyone glorified God for that which was done.

⁵Isn’t your wickedness great? Neither is there any end to your iniquities. ⁶For you have taken pledges from your brother for nothing, and stripped the naked of their clothing. ⁷You haven’t given water to the weary to drink, and you have withheld bread from the hungry. ⁸But as for the mighty man, he had the earth. The honorable man, he lived in it. ⁹You have sent widows away empty, and the arms of the fatherless have been broken. ¹⁰Therefore snares are around you. Sudden fear troubles you, ¹¹or darkness, so that you can not see, and floods of waters cover you. ¹²“Isn’t God in the heights of heaven? See the height of the stars, how high they are! ¹³You say, ‘What does God know? Can he judge through the thick darkness? ¹⁴Thick clouds are a covering to him, so that he doesn’t see. He walks on the vault of the sky.’ ¹⁵Will you keep the old way, which wicked men have trodden, ¹⁶who were snatched away before their time, whose foundation was poured out as a stream, ¹⁷who said to God, ‘Depart from us!’ and, ‘What can the Almighty do for us?’ ¹⁸Yet he filled their houses with good things, but the counsel of the wicked is far from me. ¹⁹The righteous see it, and are glad. The innocent ridicule them, ²⁰saying, ‘Surely those who rose up against us are cut off. The fire has consumed their remnant.’ ²¹“Acquaint yourself with him now, and be at peace. By it, good will come to you. ²²Please receive instruction from his mouth, and lay up his words in your heart. ²³If you return to the Almighty, you will be built up, if you put away unrighteousness far from your tents. ²⁴Lay your treasure in the dust, the gold of Ophir among the stones of the brooks. ²⁵The Almighty will be your treasure, and precious silver to you. ²⁶For then you will delight yourself in the Almighty, and will lift up your face to God. ²⁷You will make your prayer to him, and he will hear you. You will pay your vows. ²⁸You will also decree a thing, and it will be established to you. Light will shine on your ways. ²⁹When they cast down, you will say, ‘be lifted up.’ He will save the humble person. ³⁰He will even deliver him who is not innocent. Yes, he will be delivered through the cleanness of your hands.”

⁴When the natives saw the creature hanging from his hand, they said to one another, “No doubt this man is a murderer, whom, though he has escaped from the sea, yet Justice has not allowed to live.”
