John 13:17

²⁸But he said, “On the contrary, blessed are those who hear the word of God, and keep it.”

¹⁷To him therefore who knows to do good and doesn’t do it, to him it is sin.

²⁵But he who looks into the perfect law of freedom and continues, not being a hearer who forgets but a doer of the work, this man will be blessed in what he does.

²⁴“Everyone therefore who hears these words of mine and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock. ²⁵The rain came down, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it didn’t fall, for it was founded on the rock.

¹⁶Moses did so. According to all that the LORD commanded him, so he did.

²⁷I will put my Spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes. You will keep my ordinances and do them.

⁴⁷That servant who knew his lord’s will, and didn’t prepare nor do what he wanted, will be beaten with many stripes, ⁴⁸but he who didn’t know, and did things worthy of stripes, will be beaten with few stripes. To whomever much is given, of him will much be required; and to whom much was entrusted, of him more will be asked.

¹⁴Blessed are those who do his commandments,^[+] that they may have the right to the tree of life, and may enter in by the gates into the city.

¹¹Moreover your servant is warned by them. In keeping them there is great reward.

²⁰But do you want to know, vain man, that faith apart from works is dead? ²¹Wasn’t Abraham our father justified by works, in that he offered up Isaac his son on the altar? ²²You see that faith worked with his works, and by works faith was perfected. ²³So the Scripture was fulfilled which says, “Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him as righteousness,”and he was called the friend of God. ²⁴You see then that by works a man is justified, and not only by faith.
