Jeremiah 18:23

²²Let their table before them become a snare. May it become a retribution and a trap. ²³Let their eyes be darkened, so that they can’t see. Let their backs be continually bent. ²⁴Pour out your indignation on them. Let the fierceness of your anger overtake them. ²⁵Let their habitation be desolate. Let no one dwell in their tents. ²⁶For they persecute him whom you have wounded. They tell of the sorrow of those whom you have hurt. ²⁷Charge them with crime upon crime. Don’t let them come into your righteousness. ²⁸Let them be blotted out of the book of life, and not be written with the righteous.

⁴Let those who seek after my soul be disappointed and brought to dishonor. Let those who plot my ruin be turned back and confounded.

⁹Man is brought low, and mankind is humbled; therefore don’t forgive them.

⁴“Hear, our God, for we are despised. Turn back their reproach on their own head. Give them up for a plunder in a land of captivity. ⁵Don’t cover their iniquity. Don’t let their sin be blotted out from before you; for they have insulted the builders.”

¹⁴Let the iniquity of his fathers be remembered by the LORD. Don’t let the sin of his mother be blotted out. ¹⁵Let them be before the LORD continually, that he may cut off their memory from the earth;

¹⁸Then they said, “Come! Let’s devise plans against Jeremiah; for the law won’t perish from the priest, nor counsel from the wise, nor the word from the prophet. Come, and let’s strike him with the tongue, and let’s not give heed to any of his words.”

³What will you do in the day of visitation, and in the desolation which will come from afar? To whom will you flee for help? Where will you leave your wealth?

¹²Were they ashamed when they had committed abomination? No, they were not at all ashamed. They couldn’t blush. Therefore they will fall among those who fall. In the time of their visitation they will be cast down, says the LORD.

¹⁸The LORD gave me knowledge of it, and I knew it. Then you showed me their doings. ¹⁹But I was like a gentle lamb that is led to the slaughter. I didn’t know that they had devised plans against me, saying, “Let’s destroy the tree with its fruit, and let’s cut him off from the land of the living, that his name may be no more remembered.” ²⁰But, LORD of Armies, who judges righteously, who tests the heart and the mind, I will see your vengeance on them; for to you I have revealed my cause.

²³There will be no remnant to them, for I will bring evil on the men of Anathoth, even the year of their visitation.’”
