Jeremiah 8:12

³Therefore the showers have been withheld and there has been no latter rain; yet you have had a prostitute’s forehead and you refused to be ashamed.

¹⁵Were they ashamed when they had committed abomination? No, they were not at all ashamed, neither could they blush. Therefore they will fall among those who fall. When I visit them, they will be cast down,” says the LORD.

⁹The look of their faces testify against them. They parade their sin like Sodom. They don’t hide it. Woe to their soul! For they have brought disaster upon themselves.

⁷“Behold, this is the man who didn’t make God his strength, but trusted in the abundance of his riches, and strengthened himself in his wickedness.”

¹Why do you boast of mischief, mighty man? God’s loving kindness endures continually.

³⁵Vengeance is mine, and recompense, at the time when their foot slides, for the day of their calamity is at hand. Their doom rushes at them.”

⁵The LORD, within her, is righteous. He will do no wrong. Every morning he brings his justice to light. He doesn’t fail, but the unjust know no shame.

⁹Ephraim will become a desolation in the day of rebuke. Among the tribes of Israel, I have made known that which will surely be.

¹³Yet the people have not turned to him who struck them, neither have they sought the LORD of Armies. ¹⁴Therefore the LORD will cut off from Israel head and tail, palm branch and reed, in one day. ¹⁵The elder and the honorable man is the head, and the prophet who teaches lies is the tail. ¹⁶For those who lead this people lead them astray; and those who are led by them are destroyed. ¹⁷Therefore the Lord will not rejoice over their young men, neither will he have compassion on their fatherless and widows; for everyone is profane and an evildoer, and every mouth speaks folly. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.

¹⁹whose end is destruction, whose god is the belly, and whose glory is in their shame, who think about earthly things.
