Judges 5:5

¹⁸All of Mount Sinai smoked, because the LORD descended on it in fire; and its smoke ascended like the smoke of a furnace, and the whole mountain quaked greatly.

⁵The mountains melt like wax at the presence of the LORD, at the presence of the Lord of the whole earth.

¹Oh that you would tear the heavens, that you would come down, that the mountains might quake at your presence— ²as when fire kindles the brushwood, and the fire causes the water to boil. Make your name known to your adversaries, that the nations may tremble at your presence! ³When you did awesome things which we didn’t look for, you came down, and the mountains quaked at your presence.

⁵The mountains quake before him, and the hills melt away. The earth trembles at his presence, yes, the world, and all who dwell in it.

¹⁸For you have not come to a mountain that might be touched and that burned with fire, and to blackness, darkness, storm,

⁸The earth trembled. The sky also poured down rain at the presence of the God of Sinai— at the presence of God, the God of Israel.

¹⁰The mountains saw you, and were afraid. The storm of waters passed by. The deep roared and lifted up its hands on high.

¹⁸All the people perceived the thunderings, the lightnings, the sound of the trumpet, and the mountain smoking. When the people saw it, they trembled, and stayed at a distance.

²²The LORD spoke these words to all your assembly on the mountain out of the middle of the fire, of the cloud, and of the thick darkness, with a great voice. He added no more. He wrote them on two stone tablets, and gave them to me. ²³When you heard the voice out of the middle of the darkness, while the mountain was burning with fire, you came near to me, even all the heads of your tribes, and your elders; ²⁴and you said, “Behold, the LORD our God has shown us his glory and his greatness, and we have heard his voice out of the middle of the fire. We have seen today that God does speak with man, and he lives. ²⁵Now therefore, why should we die? For this great fire will consume us. If we hear the LORD our God’s voice any more, then we shall die.

¹¹You came near and stood under the mountain. The mountain burned with fire to the heart of the sky, with darkness, cloud, and thick darkness. ¹²The LORD spoke to you out of the middle of the fire: you heard the voice of words, but you saw no form; you only heard a voice.
