James 1:5

³yes, if you call out for discernment, and lift up your voice for understanding; ⁴if you seek her as silver, and search for her as for hidden treasures; ⁵then you will understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God. ^6[+] For the LORD gives wisdom. Out of his mouth comes knowledge and understanding.

⁷If you remain in me, and my words remain in you, you will ask whatever you desire, and it will be done for you.

¹²You shall call on me, and you shall go and pray to me, and I will listen to you. ¹³You shall seek me and find me, when you search for me with all your heart.

⁵Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. ⁶In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. ⁷Don’t be wise in your own eyes. Fear the LORD, and depart from evil.

¹⁴This is the boldness which we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will, he listens to us. ¹⁵And if we know that he listens to us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions which we have asked of him.

¹⁰Now give me wisdom and knowledge, that I may go out and come in before this people; for who can judge this great people of yours?”

⁷“Ask, and it will be given you. Seek, and you will find. Knock, and it will be opened for you. ⁸For everyone who asks receives. He who seeks finds. To him who knocks it will be opened. ⁹Or who is there among you who, if his son asks him for bread, will give him a stone? ¹⁰Or if he asks for a fish, who will give him a serpent? ¹¹If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him!

¹⁷But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceful, gentle, reasonable, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.

¹³Whatever you will ask in my name, I will do it, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.

⁷Now, LORD my God, you have made your servant king instead of David my father. I am just a little child. I don’t know how to go out or come in. ⁸Your servant is among your people which you have chosen, a great people, that can’t be numbered or counted for multitude. ⁹Give your servant therefore an understanding heart to judge your people, that I may discern between good and evil; for who is able to judge this great people of yours?”

¹⁰This request pleased the Lord, that Solomon had asked this thing. ¹¹God said to him, “Because you have asked this thing, and have not asked for yourself long life, nor have you asked for riches for yourself, nor have you asked for the life of your enemies, but have asked for yourself understanding to discern justice, ¹²behold, I have done according to your word. Behold, I have given you a wise and understanding heart, so that there has been no one like you before you, and after you none will arise like you.
