Isaiah 54:5

²⁵Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the assembly and gave himself up for her, ²⁶that he might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word, ²⁷that he might present the assembly to himself gloriously, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without defect.

¹⁹I will betroth you to me forever. Yes, I will betroth you to me in righteousness, in justice, in loving kindness, and in compassion. ²⁰I will even betroth you to me in faithfulness; and you shall know the LORD.

²For I am jealous over you with a godly jealousy. For I promised you in marriage to one husband, that I might present you as a pure virgin to Christ. ³But I am afraid that somehow, as the serpent deceived Eve in his craftiness, so your minds might be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.

¹⁷The LORD, your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel, says: “I am the LORD your God, who teaches you to profit, who leads you by the way that you should go.

⁸“‘“Now when I passed by you, and looked at you, behold, your time was the time of love; and I spread my garment over you and covered your nakedness. Yes, I pledged myself to you and entered into a covenant with you,” says the Lord GOD, “and you became mine.

²⁹Or is God the God of Jews only? Isn’t he the God of Gentiles also? Yes, of Gentiles also, ³⁰since indeed there is one God who will justify the circumcised by faith and the uncircumcised through faith.

²⁹He who has the bride is the bridegroom; but the friend of the bridegroom, who stands and hears him, rejoices greatly because of the bridegroom’s voice. Therefore my joy is made full.

¹⁰Listen, daughter, consider, and turn your ear. Forget your own people, and also your father’s house. ¹¹So the king will desire your beauty, honor him, for he is your lord. ¹²The daughter of Tyre comes with a gift. The rich among the people entreat your favor. ¹³The princess inside is all glorious. Her clothing is interwoven with gold. ¹⁴She shall be led to the king in embroidered work. The virgins, her companions who follow her, shall be brought to you. ¹⁵With gladness and rejoicing they shall be led. They shall enter into the king’s palace. ¹⁶Your sons will take the place of your fathers. You shall make them princes in all the earth. ¹⁷I will make your name to be remembered in all generations. Therefore the peoples shall give you thanks forever and ever.

⁹The LORD will be King over all the earth. In that day the LORD will be one, and his name one.

³²This mystery is great, but I speak concerning Christ and the assembly.
