Genesis 50:19

¹⁹Don’t seek revenge yourselves, beloved, but give place to God’s wrath. For it is written, “Vengeance belongs to me; I will repay, says the Lord.”

²Jacob’s anger burned against Rachel, and he said, “Am I in God’s place, who has withheld from you the fruit of the womb?”

⁵Now don’t be grieved, nor angry with yourselves, that you sold me here, for God sent me before you to preserve life.

⁷When the king of Israel had read the letter, he tore his clothes and said, “Am I God, to kill and to make alive, that this man sends to me to heal a man of his leprosy? But please consider and see how he seeks a quarrel against me.”

³⁰For we know him who said, “Vengeance belongs to me. I will repay,” says the Lord.Again, “The Lord will judge his people.”

¹⁹He doesn’t respect the persons of princes, nor respect the rich more than the poor, for they all are the work of his hands. ²⁰In a moment they die, even at midnight. The people are shaken and pass away. The mighty are taken away without a hand. ²¹“For his eyes are on the ways of a man. He sees all his goings. ²²There is no darkness, nor thick gloom, where the workers of iniquity may hide themselves. ²³For he doesn’t need to consider a man further, that he should go before God in judgment. ²⁴He breaks mighty men in pieces in ways past finding out, and sets others in their place. ²⁵Therefore he takes knowledge of their works. He overturns them in the night, so that they are destroyed. ²⁶He strikes them as wicked men in the open sight of others; ²⁷because they turned away from following him, and wouldn’t pay attention to any of his ways, ²⁸so that they caused the cry of the poor to come to him. He heard the cry of the afflicted. ²⁹When he gives quietness, who then can condemn? When he hides his face, who then can see him? He is over a nation or a man alike,

²⁷But immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying, “Cheer up! It is I! Don’t ^[+] be afraid.”

³⁵Vengeance is mine, and recompense, at the time when their foot slides, for the day of their calamity is at hand. Their doom rushes at them.”

³⁷But they were terrified and filled with fear, and supposed that they had seen a spirit.

³⁸He said to them, “Why are you troubled? Why do doubts arise in your hearts?
