Ezekiel 22:27

¹³“‘“Behold, therefore I have struck my hand at your dishonest gain which you have made, and at the blood which has been shed within you.

⁶“‘“Behold, the princes of Israel, everyone according to his power, have been in you to shed blood.

²³Your princes are rebellious and companions of thieves. Everyone loves bribes and follows after rewards. They don’t defend the fatherless, neither does the cause of the widow come to them.

⁶But you have dishonored the poor man. Don’t the rich oppress you and personally drag you before the courts? ⁷Don’t they blaspheme the honorable name by which you are called?

⁹Please listen to this, you heads of the house of Jacob, and rulers of the house of Israel, who abhor justice, and pervert all equity, ¹⁰who build up Zion with blood, and Jerusalem with iniquity. ¹¹Her leaders judge for bribes, and her priests teach for a price, and her prophets of it tell fortunes for money; yet they lean on the LORD, and say, “Isn’t the LORD among us? No disaster will come on us.”

³She brought up one of her cubs. He became a young lion. He learned to catch the prey. He devoured men. ⁴The nations also heard of him. He was taken in their pit; and they brought him with hooks to the land of Egypt. ⁵“‘Now when she saw that she had waited, and her hope was lost, then she took another of her cubs, and made him a young lion. ⁶He went up and down among the lions. He became a young lion. He learned to catch the prey. He devoured men.

²You who hate the good, and love the evil; who tear off their skin, and their flesh from off their bones; ³who also eat the flesh of my people, and peel their skin from off them, and break their bones, and chop them in pieces, as for the pot, and as meat within the cauldron.

¹When I would heal Israel, then the iniquity of Ephraim is uncovered, also the wickedness of Samaria; for they commit falsehood, and the thief enters in, and the gang of robbers ravages outside. ²They don’t consider in their hearts that I remember all their wickedness. Now their own deeds have engulfed them. They are before my face. ³They make the king glad with their wickedness, and the princes with their lies. ⁴They are all adulterers. They are burning like an oven that the baker stops stirring, from the kneading of the dough, until it is leavened. ⁵On the day of our king, the princes made themselves sick with the heat of wine. He joined his hand with mockers. ⁶For they have prepared their heart like an oven, while they lie in wait. Their anger smolders all night. In the morning it burns as a flaming fire. ⁷They are all hot as an oven, and devour their judges. All their kings have fallen. There is no one among them who calls to me.

⁸Don’t rejoice against me, my enemy. When I fall, I will arise. When I sit in darkness, the LORD will be a light to me.

¹³He said to them, “It is written, ‘My house shall be called a house of prayer,’but you have made it a den of robbers!”
