Exodus 22:23

²⁸so that they caused the cry of the poor to come to him. He heard the cry of the afflicted.

¹⁷LORD, you have heard the desire of the humble. You will prepare their heart. You will cause your ear to hear, ¹⁸to judge the fatherless and the oppressed, that man who is of the earth may terrify no more.

⁷Won’t God avenge his chosen ones who are crying out to him day and night, and yet he exercises patience with them?

⁶In my distress I called on the LORD, and cried to my God. He heard my voice out of his temple. My cry before him came into his ears.

⁹Beware that there not be a wicked thought in your heart, saying, “The seventh year, the year of release, is at hand,” and your eye be evil against your poor brother and you give him nothing; and he cry to the LORD against you, and it be sin to you.

⁹“By reason of the multitude of oppressions they cry out. They cry for help by reason of the arm of the mighty.

⁴Behold, the wages of the laborers who mowed your fields, which you have kept back by fraud, cry out; and the cries of those who reaped have entered into the ears of the Lord of Armies.

⁷who executes justice for the oppressed; who gives food to the hungry. The LORD frees the prisoners. ⁸The LORD opens the eyes of the blind. The LORD raises up those who are bowed down. The LORD loves the righteous. ⁹The LORD preserves the foreigners. He upholds the fatherless and widow, but he turns the way of the wicked upside down.

¹⁹He will fulfill the desire of those who fear him. He also will hear their cry, and will save them.

¹²I know that the LORD will maintain the cause of the afflicted, and justice for the needy.
