Esther 6:12

³⁰David went up by the ascent of the Mount of Olives, and wept as he went up; and he had his head covered and went barefoot. All the people who were with him each covered his head, and they went up, weeping as they went up.

³Their nobles send their little ones to the waters. They come to the cisterns, and find no water. They return with their vessels empty. They are disappointed and confounded, and cover their heads. ⁴Because of the ground which is cracked, because no rain has been in the land, the plowmen are disappointed. They cover their heads.

⁵that the triumphing of the wicked is short, the joy of the godless but for a moment?

⁴Ahab came into his house sullen and angry because of the word which Naboth the Jezreelite had spoken to him, for he had said, “I will not give you the inheritance of my fathers.” He laid himself down on his bed, and turned away his face, and would eat no bread.

¹⁵Samuel lay until the morning, and opened the doors of the LORD’s house. Samuel was afraid to show Eli the vision.

¹LORD, my heart isn’t arrogant, nor my eyes lofty; nor do I concern myself with great matters, or things too wonderful for me. ²Surely I have stilled and quieted my soul, like a weaned child with his mother, like a weaned child is my soul within me.

¹⁹When the virgins were gathered together the second time, Mordecai was sitting in the king’s gate.

²⁴The earth is given into the hand of the wicked. He covers the faces of its judges. If not he, then who is it?

⁸Then the king returned out of the palace garden into the place of the banquet of wine; and Haman had fallen on the couch where Esther was. Then the king said, “Will he even assault the queen in front of me in the house?” As the word went out of the king’s mouth, they covered Haman’s face.

²⁰Azariah the chief priest and all the priests looked at him, and behold, he was leprous in his forehead; and they thrust him out quickly from there. Indeed, he himself also hurried to go out, because the LORD had struck him.
