Acts 25:5

²⁹Pilate therefore went out to them and said, “What accusation do you bring against this man?”

³⁰They answered him, “If this man weren’t an evildoer, we wouldn’t have delivered him up to you.”

¹⁸When the accusers stood up, they brought no charges against him of such things as I supposed; ¹⁹but had certain questions against him about their own religion and about one Jesus, who was dead, whom Paul affirmed to be alive.

¹⁶I answered them that it is not the custom of the Romans to give up any man to destruction before the accused has met the accusers face to face and has had opportunity to make his defense concerning the matter laid against him.

²⁵But when I found that he had committed nothing worthy of death, and as he himself appealed to the emperor, I determined to send him,

³⁰When I was told that the Jews lay in wait for the man, I sent him to you immediately, charging his accusers also to bring their accusations against him before you. Farewell.”

^8[+] By examining him yourself you may ascertain all these things of which we accuse him.”

¹⁴But when Paul was about to open his mouth, Gallio said to the Jews, “If indeed it were a matter of wrong or of wicked crime, you Jews, it would be reasonable that I should bear with you;

¹¹Moreover, my father, behold, yes, see the skirt of your robe in my hand; for in that I cut off the skirt of your robe and didn’t kill you, know and see that there is neither evil nor disobedience in my hand. I have not sinned against you, though you hunt for my life to take it. ¹²May the LORD judge between me and you, and may the LORD avenge me of you; but my hand will not be on you.

³LORD, my God, if I have done this, if there is iniquity in my hands, ⁴if I have rewarded evil to him who was at peace with me (yes, I have plundered him who without cause was my adversary), ⁵let the enemy pursue my soul, and overtake it; yes, let him tread my life down to the earth, and lay my glory in the dust. Selah.
