2 Samuel 22:16

⁴He rebukes the sea and makes it dry, and dries up all the rivers. Bashan and Carmel languish. The flower of Lebanon languishes.

⁸Was the LORD displeased with the rivers? Was your anger against the rivers, or your wrath against the sea, that you rode on your horses, on your chariots of salvation? ⁹You uncovered your bow. You called for your sworn arrows. Selah. You split the earth with rivers. ¹⁰The mountains saw you, and were afraid. The storm of waters passed by. The deep roared and lifted up its hands on high.

⁸With the blast of your nostrils, the waters were piled up. The floods stood upright as a heap. The deeps were congealed in the heart of the sea. ⁹The enemy said, ‘I will pursue. I will overtake. I will divide the plunder. My desire will be satisfied on them. I will draw my sword. My hand will destroy them.’ ¹⁰You blew with your wind. The sea covered them. They sank like lead in the mighty waters.

³The sea saw it, and fled. The Jordan was driven back. ⁴The mountains skipped like rams, the little hills like lambs. ⁵What was it, you sea, that you fled? You Jordan, that you turned back? ⁶You mountains, that you skipped like rams? You little hills, like lambs? ⁷Tremble, you earth, at the presence of the Lord, at the presence of the God of Jacob,

¹¹and said, ‘You may come here, but no further. Your proud waves shall be stopped here’?

⁹Smoke went up out of his nostrils. Consuming fire came out of his mouth. Coals were kindled by it.

²¹Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and the LORD caused the sea to go back by a strong east wind all night, and made the sea dry land, and the waters were divided. ²²The children of Israel went into the middle of the sea on the dry ground; and the waters were a wall to them on their right hand and on their left. ²³The Egyptians pursued, and went in after them into the middle of the sea: all of Pharaoh’s horses, his chariots, and his horsemen. ²⁴In the morning watch, the LORD looked out on the Egyptian army through the pillar of fire and of cloud, and confused the Egyptian army. ²⁵He took off their chariot wheels, and they drove them heavily; so that the Egyptians said, “Let’s flee from the face of Israel, for the LORD fights for them against the Egyptians!”

²⁶The LORD said to Moses, “Stretch out your hand over the sea, that the waters may come again on the Egyptians, on their chariots, and on their horsemen.” ²⁷Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and the sea returned to its strength when the morning appeared; and the Egyptians fled against it. The LORD overthrew the Egyptians in the middle of the sea.

¹God, why have you rejected us forever? Why does your anger smolder against the sheep of your pasture?

²⁶He said to them, “Why are you fearful, O you of little faith?” Then he got up, rebuked the wind and the sea, and there was a great calm.

²⁷The men marveled, saying, “What kind of man is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?”

⁹He rebuked the Red Sea also, and it was dried up; so he led them through the depths, as through a desert.
