2 Kings 12:4

⁴“Go up to Hilkiah the high priest, that he may count the money which is brought into the LORD’s house, which the keepers of the threshold have gathered of the people.

⁵‘Take from among you an offering to the LORD. Whoever is of a willing heart, let him bring it as the LORD’s offering: gold, silver, bronze,

¹²“When you take a census of the children of Israel, according to those who are counted among them, then each man shall give a ransom for his soul to the LORD when you count them, that there be no plague among them when you count them. ¹³They shall give this, everyone who passes over to those who are counted, half a shekel according to the shekel^[+] of the sanctuary (the shekel is twenty gerahs^[+] half a shekel for an offering to the LORD. ¹⁴Everyone who passes over to those who are counted, from twenty years old and upward, shall give the offering to the LORD. ¹⁵The rich shall not give more, and the poor shall not give less, than the half shekel,^[+] when they give the offering of the LORD, to make atonement for your souls. ¹⁶You shall take the atonement money from the children of Israel, and shall appoint it for the service of the Tent of Meeting; that it may be a memorial for the children of Israel before the LORD, to make atonement for your souls.”

³In addition, because I have set my affection on the house of my God, since I have a treasure of my own of gold and silver, I give it to the house of my God, over and above all that I have prepared for the holy house: ⁴even three thousand talents of gold,^[+] of the gold of Ophir, and seven thousand talents^[+] of refined silver, with which to overlay the walls of the houses; ⁵of gold for the things of gold, and of silver for the things of silver, and for all kinds of work to be made by the hands of artisans. Who then offers willingly to consecrate himself today to the LORD?”

⁶Then the princes of the fathers’ households, and the princes of the tribes of Israel, and the captains of thousands and of hundreds, with the rulers over the king’s work, offered willingly; ⁷and they gave for the service of God’s house of gold five thousand talents^[+] and ten thousand darics,^[+] of silver ten thousand talents, of bronze eighteen thousand talents, and of iron one hundred thousand talents. ⁸People with whom precious stones were found gave them to the treasure of the LORD’s house, under the hand of Jehiel the Gershonite. ⁹Then the people rejoiced, because they offered willingly, because with a perfect heart they offered willingly to the LORD; and David the king also rejoiced with great joy.

²⁹The children of Israel brought a free will offering to the LORD; every man and woman whose heart made them willing to bring for all the work, which the LORD had commanded to be made by Moses.

²²They came, both men and women, as many as were willing-hearted, and brought brooches, earrings, signet rings, and armlets, all jewels of gold; even every man who offered an offering of gold to the LORD.

¹⁸Jehoash king of Judah took all the holy things that Jehoshaphat and Jehoram and Ahaziah, his fathers, kings of Judah, had dedicated, and his own holy things, and all the gold that was found in the treasures of the LORD’s house, and of the king’s house, and sent it to Hazael king of Syria; and he went away from Jerusalem.

²⁵and weighed to them the silver, the gold, and the vessels, even the offering for the house of our God, which the king, his counselors, his princes, and all Israel there present, had offered. ²⁶I weighed into their hand six hundred fifty talents of silver,^[+] one hundred talents of silver vessels, one hundred talents of gold, ²⁷twenty bowls of gold weighing one thousand darics,^[+] and two vessels of fine bright bronze, precious as gold. ²⁸I said to them, “You are holy to the LORD, and the vessels are holy. The silver and the gold are a free will offering to the LORD, the God of your fathers.

⁶All those who were around them strengthened their hands with vessels of silver, with gold, with goods, with animals, and with precious things, in addition to all that was willingly offered.

¹The LORD spoke to Moses, saying, ²“Speak to the children of Israel, that they take an offering for me. From everyone whose heart makes him willing you shall take my offering.
